Dear Dr. David Bonner:

Thanks to the generous support of corporate sponsors like Adirondack Area Network, this year's Capitol Region AIDSWalk raised over $150,000 for AIDS prevention and care, making it the largest AIDSWalk ever in upstate New York. However, there are now more people living with HIV.AIDS than ever before. In addition, the incidence of new HIV-infection is increasing, making it even more important to increase prevention efforts. The Community AIDS Partnership, now a program of CARES, Inc., is committed to raising even more funds through AIDSWalk 2002 to address these expanding needs, and we would like your support. We are writing to request that you allocate $500 for AIDSWalk 2002 in next year's budget.

AIDSWalk 2002 will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2002 in Albany's Washington Park. We expect it to be our biggest walk yet, with over 2,500 people in attendance and participation by over 100 teams of walkers representing churches and synagogues, schools, corporation, and community organizations. All of the funds raised will benefit organizations that serve the Capitol Region; the National AIDS fund will provide matching funding. Your investment in this event will have a direct impact on addressing the AIDS epidemic in the Capitol Region, raising funds and community awareness to combat this devastating disease.

Attached is a table of corporate sponsorship levels for AIDSWalk 2002. Each of these levels provides marketing opportunities for your company, allowing the public to become more aware of your commitment to maintaining and improving the health and quality of life of Capitol Region residents.

Thank you for your consideration of our request. You will be contacted shortly to follow up on this letter. In the meantime, please call us at (518) 489-4130 if you would like additional information about AIDSWalk 2002.
